Scholarships and Awards
The CLIS Alumni Scholarships is awarded annually to two MLS students degree students at CLIS who have completed at least 9 credits. These are the Silver Anniversary Scholarship and the Founders Scholarship. Each is an award of $3,500.

CLIS Dean’s Award is awarded annually at the May Commencement for the outstanding design or development project for a CLIS course by a CLIS student or a group of students (at least one of whom must be a CLIS student).
The Frank G. Burke Fellowship is awarded annually to a HiLS student. The award is a stipend of approximately $1,000. The recipient is notified in late spring.
The Helen A. Tegnell Memorial Scholarship is competitive based on academic excellence. It is awarded annually. The award includes a 10-month stipend of approximately $10,000 and 10 credits tuition remission each semester. The recipient is notified in late spring.
The H.W. Wilson Scholarship is supported through a grant from the H.W. Wilson company. The scholarship is awarded periodically depending upon receipt of funding. The availability of the scholarships is announcement of the Website and through the CLIS list.
Laurence B. Heilprin Award is presented annually at the May Commencement for the outstanding discourse on a topic in library and information science written for a CLIS course by a CLIS student or group of students (at least one of whom must be a CLIS student).
The LSSI Scholarship is awarded annually to a part-time MLS student at CLIS. It was established in 2000 by LSSI, a local firm that provides library management and library outsourcing services.
The Myra Wilson Scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Myra Wilson, a CLIS graduate. It is awarded to a student preparing for a career in law librarianship, public library reference service, or international librarianship.
The Noyes Library Association Scholarship is awarded annually to a MLS student who is interested in working with children in a public library. The award is a stipend of approximately $2,000. The recipient is notified in late spring.
The Walter T. Shirley Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student with demonstrated achievement in literature and literate pursuits. The award is a stipend of approximately $2,500. The recipient is notified in late spring.
